... from New Jersey
Take the Garden State Parkway
North all the way to the end. There are two ways you can go from
here:
1. Follow
the signs for the Tappan Zee Bridge, cross it and get onto the
Saw Mill Parkway. Take the Saw Mill to 684 North. Stay on 684
to the Danbury exit, which puts you on Route 84 East.
OR
2. Stay on what is then the New York State Thruway North
until you can get onto Route 84 East.
Once on 84 the directions are
the same:
Stay on 84 East through the rest of NY State, into Connecticut,
as far as Hartford.
At Hartford, get on Route 91 North.
Continue through the rest of Connecticut, all the way through
Massachusetts, and on into Vermont. In Vermont you will go about
110 miles, to the Wells River exit (Exit 17), which is Route
302.
At the end of the ramp, make a
right turn onto Route 302 East. Follow Route 302, (it winds a
bit) through Wells River across the bridge into Woodsville, NH.
Stay on Route 302 (still winding, watch the signs for the Route)
through the towns of Bath and Lisbon. After Lisbon, and just
before you reach Littleton, Route 302 crosses Route 93.
Get on 93 South for 2 exits. Get
off at Exit 40 (Bethlehem) and get back onto 302 East (your only
choice). Go through the towns of Bethlehem and Twin Mountain.
At Twin Mountain, also known as Bretton Woods, you will pass
the Mt. Washington Hotel (a huge white building with a red roof)
in the distance on your left. We are about 12.5 miles past the
Mt. Washington Hotel, into the National Forest and down through
Crawford Notch. You will see a blue highway sign announcing us
about ¼ mile before you get to us. We are the big granite
building on the right, up the hillside.
