The Notchland Inn located in the white mountains of New Hampshire

GHOST & GOBLIN TRAIL©
An Inn-to-Inn Trek for Treats
October 30th, 2010

THE EVENT:
Treats & Tricks go hand in hand as you go Inn-to-Inn: For the sixth year, Bed & Breakfasts Inn the Mount Washington Valley (BBInnsMWV ) will host THE GHOST & GOBLIN TRAIL...one in a series of ‘not just another seasonal inn tours’.

On Saturday, October 30, for one day only, between the hours of 11AM and 4PM, these historic inns will offer you a self-guided tour of the participating properties; sampling a grab bag of special treats (and maybe some tricks!). Each entrance, uniquely decorated to bid farewell to Autumn, welcomes revelers, costumed or not.

The Great Mystery Muddle of the White Mountains: The fiendish riddle and jumble contest is back for a return engagement. Each participating inn will deliver a clue, hidden within their tour booklet page. Interpreted correctly, the “de-jumbled” clues solve The Great Mystery Muddle of the White Mountains. Should more than one savvy sleuth unscramble the correct answer, the lucky winner will be chosen from among them by random drawing. The grand prize valued at over $400 includes a $200 certificate toward a two- night stay at any participating inn, a dinner certificate for The Notchland Inn, a horse or carriage ride for two at the Farm by the River & Stables, and a special treat bag full of fun prizes courtesy of the BBInnsMWV and their Country Partners (several local businesses that want to be part of the fun).

As tour participants choose their favorite entrance decorations of the inns, the Innkeepers and Country Partners will be judging the costumes & Halloween make-ups of their guests. The costume(s) they choose as Best Inn Spirit of the Day will receive a prize valued at over $200, including a dinner certificate for The Notchland Inn.

Late Night Walk on the Dark Side:
For our Ghosts &Goblins package guests and those who join us for the dinner on October 31, we extend an invitation to venture out into the woods of Notchland when dinner is done. We will pause at the grave sites of the Crawfords and Samuel Bemis, both early proprietors of the property. The truly daring - those who don’t turn back while they can - will continue on to the high banks of Nancy Brook - there to hear the story and see the evidence of the untimely demise of Nancy Barton. More stories and surprises are sure to surface.

Join Us:
So join the fun...this is your chance to once again collect your own bag of Halloween treats. You need not be in costume to tour; however, those in street clothes must earn their treat at every stop...by drawing a task, to be performed, from a bag o’ tricks. Organize your own gaggle of gregarious ghouls and come with friends. We’ll drive you bats with the good times we’ll be brew’n up!

Don’t forget that best over all costume, as voted by all the Innkeepers and Country Partners, will win dinner for two at Notchland.

**Les and Ed would like to take this opportunity to clarify that in their tenure here at Notchland they have not personally been in direct contact with any of the free spirits some think may inhabit the inn. Although open to the experience, they have not been able to verify any of the reported Inn-cidents!
